Federation weatherboard
Lennox Head. Lead-safe prep, 2 coats Weathershield. 6 days.
Before
After The problem
A 1920s weatherboard a street back from the water, flaking and chalking, with pre-1970 lead-paint history. Two earlier "quick" repaints had been rolled straight over failing coating, so it was peeling again within a couple of summers.
Our approach
We tested for lead first, wet-scraped back to a sound substrate (never dry-sanded), filled and spot-primed the bare timber, then built the system up from a binding primer instead of painting over the problem.
The result
A finish specced for salt and UV, with the prep that makes it last. Two coats, every line on the quote, and a 7-year workmanship warranty in writing.
System & materials
- Dulux Weathershield exterior, coastal-grade
- Oil-based binding primer on bare timber
- Lead-safe containment and disposal
- Two full topcoats, cut-in by brush
