Colour, sorted

Not sure on the colour? That is the easy part.

The colour is the part most owners lose sleep over, so we take the risk out of it. We bring large brush-out samples to the house, you see them in your own light morning and afternoon, and nothing goes on the walls until you are sure.

  • Large brush-out samples on your actual walls, not a tiny chip
  • Seen in your morning and afternoon light before you commit
  • Heritage and body-corporate colour rules handled for you

Proof, recent work

How it runs

What happens next, step by step.

1

Walkthrough + itemised quote

We measure, test surfaces, and return a quote split into 7 lines.

2

Colour + product

You pick brand, finish and colours. We check compatibility with your surfaces.

3

Contract + 10% deposit

On letterhead, licence number, variation rules in writing.

4

Prep day(s)

Wash, sand, fill, mask, prime. The longest step on a clean job.

5

Cut-in + coats

Edges cut by brush, walls rolled, proper drying time between coats.

6

Handover + tins

Daylight walk-through, touch-ups, labelled leftover tins for each room.

Why our quote looks different

Every quote splits into 7 lines.

Australian homeowners get quotes 5× apart for the same job because cheap painters don’t price the prep. Here’s everything that’s in ours.

The 7-line quote
  1. 1 Wash + clean. Sugar-soap removes oils and residue, without it, paint lifts.
  2. 2 Sanding + filling. Nail holes, cracks, surface roughness. Finish quality lives here.
  3. 3 Masking + drop sheets. Floors, fixtures, edges. Skip it and you pay in cleanup.
  4. 4 Primer (surface-specific). New plaster, old enamel and steel each need a different primer.
  5. 5 Number of coats. Two is standard. One means you’ll see the old colour through it.
  6. 6 Paint brand + product. Named on the quote, Dulux Wash & Wear, not “trade white”.
  7. 7 Cut-in + edges. Ceilings, skirting, architraves, visible for the next 10 years.
If a quote doesn’t show these lines, you can’t compare it, and you don’t know what’s been cut.

Honest scope

We’ll tell you which one you actually need, not the biggest job we can sell you.

Option A

Patch + touch-up

Fix marks and problem walls, colour-matched from the original tin.

Right when: paint is sound, you have the tin.
Wrong when: faded everywhere, colour change wanted.
$300 – $1,500
Most common

Room refresh

Repaint specific rooms with light prep, walls, ceilings, sometimes trim.

Right when: a few rooms tired, budget-aware.
Wrong when: whole-house overhaul needed.
$1,800 – $5,500
Option C

Full repaint

Interior + exterior, full prep, new colour scheme.

Right when: pre-sale, post-reno, paint failing.
Wrong when: paint mostly sound.
$9k – $30k+
Option D

Strip-back + repaint

Remove failed coating to a sound substrate, then rebuild the paint system from primer up.

Right when: paint is flaking, bubbling or bare in patches.
Wrong when: the existing coating is still well-bonded.
$12k – $35k+
Option E

Specialist, lead-safe / heritage

Pre-1970 lead-safe prep or heritage-correct systems, tested and documented before a brush is lifted.

Right when: pre-1970 home with disturbance, or a heritage-listed property.
Wrong when: post-1970 build with no heritage controls.
Tested first, then quoted

Before you call anyone

Work out the scope, then see the range.

Two quick tools, no email wall, nothing stored: the condition aid tells you whether you need a refresh, a full repaint or a strip-back, then the estimator gives an indicative band and decodes what a real quote for that job should itemise. Neither is a quote. Both end in a proper walkthrough.

Warranty in writing

Three layers, and what each one covers.

Layer 01

Our workmanship

7 years, peeling, blistering, lifting and fade. Excludes physical damage and water ingress from elsewhere.

Layer 02

Dulux / manufacturer

5–25 years depending on the product. Read the manufacturer PDF, we name the product on your quote.

Layer 03

Statutory (ACL)

Reasonable workmanship for a reasonable period under Australian Consumer Law. Always applies.

Payment options

Spread the cost of the repaint.

A proper repaint protects the house for years. Pay it down in a way that suits you, agreed up front and itemised on the quote, with no surprises.

See payment options

Staggered progress payments

Pay per stage as the job moves, prep, primer, then coats, never all up front.

Interest-free plans available

Approved third-party plans for larger jobs, so the right job does not have to wait.

No deposit to hold your spot

We lock the dates first; the first payment is due when we start on site, not before.

Watch this before you book

The seven questions every homeowner asks, answered once.

Dan runs through cost, prep, primer, coats, paint brand, warranty and how quoting works. Ten minutes here saves an hour on the day.

Do I need a licensed painter for my job?
In NSW, painting work over $5,000 needs a tradesperson certificate (QLD: $3,300; VIC: $10,000). We’re licensed in NSW, number 284 551C, and happy to show it for any job size.
Why is prep such a big part of the cost?
60–80% of a quality paint job is prep you never see, washing, sanding, filling, masking and priming. It’s the difference between a finish that lasts ten years and one that lifts in two.
How many coats do I need?
Two is the standard. Darker colours, dark-to-light changes, and problem walls need three. We tell you which on the quote, never one coat over a different colour.
How long will my job take?
A 3-bedroom interior is typically 5–10 working days; exteriors take longer with weather and access. We give you a realistic window and our rule if rain pushes an exterior job.
What does your warranty cover?
A 7-year workmanship warranty (peeling, blistering, lifting, fade), plus the Dulux product warranty, plus your statutory rights. All in writing.
Do you do lead-paint, heritage or render work?
Yes, pre-1970 lead-safe prep, heritage colour matching, and the correct render systems. These are specialist jobs and we price them honestly.
